Annual Safety Checks

Annual safety checks are at the heart of our Home Safety Service. We believe that they are an essential ‘tool’ for maintaining a safe home environment.
Electrical Installation
Your electrical installation has been designed to provide protection against electric shock, thermal effects and fire.
Like anything else, it is prone to wear and tear, and this may compromise your safety. Because much of the installation is hidden, you may well be unaware that your safety is at risk.
For example, your electrical installation probably incorporates a range of sophisticated electro-mechanical devices such as circuit breakers and residual current devices (RCD’s) – their reliability may diminish over time without you knowing.
Portable Electrical Appliances
Your portable electrical appliances are particularly vulnerable to wear and tear that may make them unsafe. For example, because they are moved around, the flexes may become damaged or a safety earth may become disconnected internally.
Fire Alarm System
How do you know that your smoke/heat alarms will go off in the event of a fire? For example, these alarms make use of sensors which may no longer work effectively if the sensor chambers are contaminated by dust.
Carbon Monoxide Alarm System
How do you know that your alarms will sound if there is carbon monoxide present? For example, these alarms rely on sensors which may no longer be working effectively.
Gas/Oil fired Appliances
If you let your property, you have a statutory duty to have the gas/oil burning appliances checked every year.
Even if you don’t let the property, these appliances should be checked annually to ensure that they continue to operate safely. In particular, you want to ensure that they are not emitting carbon monoxide when in use.
